I've been telling people for years how the boas are not the dangerous members of the 'big constrictor' group. Now they have ammo against me! I thought I heard of this happening when he had friends over, which is weird... why didn't they help. I always thought alcohol or hot water could get a constrictor to let go. I have a nice flask with horrid old tequila in it just for such an occasion!
Here's a site citing how you use the alcohol and/or hot water:

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous that people immediately go to knee-jerk legislation with snakes. In any other hobby, one fluke death would be seen as just a guy who had some bad luck. When it's a reptile, everybody overreacts as if the guy was plotting to destroy the world by harboring the spawn of evil in his house. A single death (ever, in the whole country!) actually should be taken as proof that boas are pretty safe. I wonder how many people die after tripping over cats every year..

Ha, well said on all accounts! I even recall the story of someone being stupid and trying to swallow a cichlid and dying from it getting stuck. So, cichlids have at least as many deaths as boas!
